Fashion for Good Launches Today the Footwear Circularity Guidance Quick Sheet

As part of Phase 2 of Closing The Footwear Loop, Fashion for Good launcheds today the Footwear Circularity Guidance Quick Sheet, introducing four considerations for designing footwear for circularity: Circular Inputs, Design for Longevity, Design for Recyclability and Enable Circulation.

We know how to design shoes to perform. But how do we design them for circularity?

A shoe contains 60+ components on average, combining different materials and construction methods to meet performance, comfort, durability, safety, aesthetics and cost requirements.

That complexity can make footwear harder to sort, disassemble and recycle; creating a major obstacle to a clear roadmap towards footwear circularity. In this carousel, we unpack this challenge – and introduce a potential solution.

In Phase 2 of Closing the Footwear Loop, Fashion for Good, in collaboration with @circular.fashion, developed the Circularity Guidance Quick Sheet to help cross-functional teams – not only designers, since circularity touches many roles.

What is it? 👉 The Circularity Quick Sheet is a recommended roadmap and key actions across three footwear archetypes to help onboard your organisation, initiate internal strategy and implementation, and spark collaboration for circularity. The guidance is tailored to the following footwear archetypes:

🥾 Leather Boot
🏃 Running Shoe
👟 Lifestyle Sneaker

Making circularity clearer and easier to design for – from the start.
